CAP 2 MATCH


CAP TO MATCH COLLARED SLEEP SACK

SIZE:  11-14 inches

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn 1 ounce
US size 10.5 (6.5 mm) 16 inch circular knitting needle
US size 10.5 (6.5 mm) double pointed needles to match
Tapestry needle
Marker

NOTES: 
1.  Read instructions through before beginning cap.
2.  Change to double point needles when necessary.

INSTRUCTIONS:
With 16 inch needle, cast on 48 sts. Join and work in the round.

Place marker to designate beginning of round.

Rounds 1-4:  K1, P1.  Repeat from * around.  (48 sts)

Round 5-6:  *K2, P2.  Repeat from * around. (48 sts)

Round 7-8:  *P2, K2.  Repeat from * around. (48 sts)

Repeat rounds 5-8 until cap measures about 4.5 inches from cast on edge.

Begin decreases:  Switch to double points when necessary.

Dec Round 1:  *K6, K2tog.  Repeat from * around.  (42 sts)

Dec Round 2:  *K.  Repeat from * around.  (42 sts)

Dec Round 3:  *K5, K2tog.  Repeat from * around.  (36 sts)

Dec Round 4:  *K4, K2tog.  Repeat from * around.  (30 sts)

Dec Round 5:  *K3, K2tog.  Repeat from * around.  (24 sts)

Dec Round 6:  *K2, K2tog.  Repeat from * around.  (18 sts)

Dec Round 7:  *K1, K2tog.  Repeat from * around.  (12 sts)

BERIBBONED CAP


BERIBBONED CAP


SIZE:  Kid’s about 15-16 inches

MATERIALS:          
Worsted weight yarn approximately 1.5 ounces
US size 10.5 (6.5 mm) 16 inch circular knitting needle
US size 10.5 (6.5 mm) double point needles
Tapestry needle
Marker
Ribbon, 3 pieces 27 inches each

GAUGE:
Approximately 16 sts = 4 inches

NOTES:
  1. Read instructions all the way through before beginning cap.
  2. When you tie the ribbons either tie in knots or use a needle and matching thread to sew through the knot of the bow so they don’t come untied.

INSTRUCTIONS:
With 16 inch needle, cast on 60 sts. Join and place marker to denote beginning of round.
Knit until cap measures about 2 inches from cast on edge. (60 sts)

Next round:  *K4, yo, K2tog.  Repeat from * around.  (60 sts)

Next 6 rounds:  Knit.  (60 sts)

Next round:  K1, yo, K2tog.  *K4, yo, K2tog.  Repeat from * around. End with K3.  (60 sts)

Next 6 rounds:  Knit.  (60 sts)

Next round:  *K4, yo, K2tog.  Repeat from * around.  (60 sts)

Knit until cap measures about 6.5 inches from cast on edge.  (60 sts)

Begin decreases:  Switch to double points when necessary.

Dec round 1: *K8, K2tog.  Repeat from * around.  (54 sts)

Dec round 2: K.

Dec round 3: *K7, K2tog.  Repeat from * around.  (48sts)

Dec round 4: K.  (48sts)

COZY IN CABLES CAP

SIZE: 
12-15 inches

MATERIALS:          
Worsted weight yarn approximately 1.5 ounces
US size 10.5 (6.5 mm) 16 inch circular knitting needle
US size 10.5 (6.5 mm) double point needles
Cable needle or one of the above double point needles
Tapestry needle
Marker

GAUGE:
Approximately 16 sts = 4 inches

NOTES:

2.  This cap matches the sleep sack here.
3.  3/17/12 Now that I have made several of these caps, I think I like the K1, P1 ribbing better.  Give it a go and decide which you like best.

SPECIAL STITCHES:

C4B: Slip next 2 sts purl wise to cable needle (or double point needle) and hold to back of work, K2, K2 from cable needle.

INSTRUCTIONS:
With 16 inch needle, cast on 48 sts. Join and work in the round.

Place marker to denote beginning of round.

Rounds 1-5:  *K2, P2.  Repeat from * around.  (48 sts)

Switch to cable pattern.

Rounds 6-7: K4, P2.  Repeat from * around to marker.  (48 sts)

Round 8: *C4B, P2.  Repeat from * around to marker. (48 sts)

Rounds 9-11: K4, P2.  Repeat from * around to marker.  (48 sts)

Repeat rounds 6-11, until cap is approximately 5 inches from cast on edge.   Try to end with round 11.

Begin decreases:  Switch to double points when necessary.

Dec Round 1: *K4, P2tog.  Repeat from * to marker. (40 sts)

Dec Round 2: *K4, P1.  Repeat from * to marker. (40 sts)

Dec Round 3: *place 2 sts on cable needle as if to C4B, K2, K2tog off cable needle.  P1.  Repeat from * around to marker. (32 sts)

Dec Round 4: *K3, P1.  Repeat from * to marker. (32 sts)

Dec Round 5: *K1, K2tog, P1. Repeat from * to marker. (24 sts)

Dec Round 6: *K2tog, P1. Repeat from * to marker. (16 sts)

US I (5.5 mm) crochet hook for drawstring option

GAUGE:
Approximately 16 sts = 4 inches

3.  Sleep sack in photo was knit with some Red Heart Super Saver, it is a discontinued color, but very close to Aruba Sea.

SPECIAL STITCHES:

C4B: Slip next 2 sts purl wise to cable needle (or double point needle) and hold to back of work, K2, K2 from cable needle.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Cast on 86 sts using a stretchy cast on. 

Row 1:  *K2, P2.  Repeat from * across.  (86 sts)

Row 2:  *P2, K2.  Repeat from * across.  (86 sts)

Repeat rows 1and 2 for 5 inches, ending with round 2.

Remainder of sleep sack is worked in rounds.

Round 1(RS):  Without turning, P2 tog, P to last stitch, P last stitch together with first stitch of round.  (84 sts)

Round 2:  K2, P2, place marker to denote beginning of round.  Marker should be 4 sts left of center.    *K4, P2.  Repeat from * around to marker.   (84 sts)

Switch to cable pattern.

Rounds 3-4: K4, P2.  Repeat from * around to marker.  (84 sts)

Round 5: *C4B, P2.  Repeat from * around to marker. (84 sts)

Rounds 6-8: K4, P2.  Repeat from * around to marker.  (84 sts)

Repeat rounds 3-8 until sleep sack measures about 17 or 19 inches from cast on edge, depending upon if you want a closed bottom or a open bottom with drawstring.

CLOSED BOTTOM:
Repeat rounds 3-8 until sleep sack is approximately 17 inches from cast on edge.  Try to end with round 8.

Begin decreases:  Switch to double points when necessary.

Dec Round 1: *K4, P2tog.  Repeat from * to marker. (70 sts)

Dec Round 2: *K4, P1.  Repeat from * to marker. (70 sts)

Dec Round 3: *place 2 sts on cable needle as if to C4B, K2, K2tog off cable needle.  P1.  Repeat from * around to marker. (56 sts)

Dec Round 4: *K3, P1.  Repeat from * to marker. (56 sts)

Dec Round 5: *K1, K2tog, P1. Repeat from * to marker. (42 sts)

Dec Round 6: *K2tog, P1. Repeat from * to marker. (28 sts)

Dec Round 7: *K2tog.  Repeat from * to marker. (14 sts)

Cut yarn, weave end through remaining 14 sts. Draw tight and weave in end.

OPEN BOTTOM WITH DRAWSTRING:
Repeat rounds 2-5 until sleep sack is approximately 19 inches from cast on edge.

Next round:  *K8 , yo, K2tog.  Repeat from * around.  (8 yo)

Next round:  Knit.

Next 6 rounds:  *K2, P2.  Repeat from * around.
Bind off knit wise.
FINISHING:
Weave in any remaining ends.

Pull the ribbon through the ribbing at the join and tie a bow.  I like to use a needle and thread to sew a couple stitches through the bow so it doesn’t come untied.

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn approximately 1.5 ounces
US size 10 (6 mm) 16 inch circular knitting needle
US size 10 (6 mm) double point needles

NOTES:
  1. Read instructions through before beginning.
  2. Use size 9 (5.5) needles for the light weight worsted yarn, like Pound of Love, Simply Soft and Caron Jumbo Prints.
  3. The cap in photo was knit with Caron Jumbo Prints in Baby Rainbow.

INSTRUCTIONS:
With 16 inch needle, cast on 48 sts. Join and work in the round.

Place marker to designate beginning of round.

Round 1:  *K2, P2.   Repeat from * to marker.  (48 sts)

Repeat round 1 until cap measures 3 inches from cast on edge.

Next 2 rounds: P2, K2 to marker.  (48 sts)

Next 2 rounds: K2, P2 to marker.  (48 sts)

Repeat these 4 rounds until cap measures 7 inches from cast on edge. 

Ending with the two K2, P2 rounds.

Begin decreases:  Switch to double points when necessary.

Dec Round 1:  *P2, K2, P2, K2tog.  Repeat from * around.  (42 sts)

Dec Round 2:  *P2, K2, P2, K1.  Repeat from * around.  (42 sts)

This is where I switch to double points.

Dec Round 3:  *K2, P2, K2tog, P1.   Repeat from * around.  (36 sts)

Dec Round 4:  *K2, P2, K1, P1.  Repeat from * around.  (36 sts)

1/4-1/2 inch wide ribbon about 10 inches.
US size 10.5 (6.5 mm) 16 inch circular knitting needle
US size 10.5 (6.5 mm) double point needles for closed end option
US I (5.5 mm) crochet hook for drawstring option
Tapestry needle
Marker

GAUGE:
Approximately 16 sts = 4 inches

NOTES:

INSTRUCTIONS:

Cast on 82 sts using a stretchy cast on. 

Row 1:  *K2, P2.  Repeat from * across.  (82 sts)

Row 2:  *P2, K2.  Repeat from * across.  (82 sts)

Repeat rows 1and 2 for 5 inches, ending with round 2.

Remainder of sleep sack is worked in rounds.

Round 1(RS):  Without turning, P2 tog, P to last stitch, P last stitch together with first stitch of round.  (80 sts)

If your join looks a little loose don’t worry about it, we will solve that with a little piece of ribbon.

Place marker.

Round 2:  *K2, P2.  Repeat from * around. (80 sts)

Round 3:  *K2, P2.  Repeat from * around. (80 sts)

Round 4:  *P2, K2.  Repeat from * around. (80 sts)

Round 5:  *P2, K2.  Repeat from * around. (80 sts)

Repeat rounds 2-5 until sleep sack measures about 17 or 19 inches from cast on edge, depending upon if you want a closed bottom or a open bottom with drawstring.

Next round:  *K8 , yo, K2tog.  Repeat from * around.  (8 yo)

Next round:  Knit.

Next 6 rounds:  *K2, P2.  Repeat from * around.


Bind off knitwise.


DRAWSTRING:
Leaving a 5 inch tail, using an I hook chain 90 (100).  Slipstitch in the back bump of the 2nd chain from hook and each remaining chain.  Fasten off leaving a 5 inch tail. 

Cut two 10 inch lengths of yarn, fold in half, pull loop through the end of the drawstring with the tails.  Pull all the ends through the loop and pull tight forming a tassel.

Cut three 10 inch lengths of yarn, fold in half, pull loops through the opposite end of the drawstring and pull tight.

Weave drawstring in and out of the eyelets.  Pull to close and tie bow.


FINISHING:

Weave in any remaining ends.

Pull the ribbon through the ribbing at the join and tie a bow.  I like to use a needle and thread to sew a couple stitches through the bow so it doesn’t come untied.

BASKET WEAVE CAP


BASKET WEAVE CAP

MATERIALS:
Bulky weight yarn (5) approximately 3 ounces
K (6.5 mm) crochet hook
Tapestry needle

GAUGE:  5 hdc = 2 inches



SIZES:  Medium 19 (Large 21) inches

NOTES:
  1. Read through all instructions before beginning.
  2. Cap in photo was crocheted using JoAnn Sensations Rainbow Classic (aqua).
  3. Flower instructions are 6 Petal Flower.

SPECIAL STITCHES:
Hdc = half double crochet
Fbhdc = Front post Half double crochet
Bphdc = Back post half double crochet

INSTRUCTIONS:

Round 1: Ch 3, (do not count as first dc) 9 hdc in the 3rd ch from hook.  Join with a slipstitch in first hdc.  (9 sts)



Round 2: Ch 2, 2 hdc in each st.  Join with a slipstitch in first hdc.  (18 sts)



Round 3: Ch 2, *hdc in 1 st, 2 hdc in next st.  Repeat from * around.  Join with a slipstitch in first hdc.  (27 sts)



Round 4: Ch 2, *hdc in 2 sts, 2 hdc in next st.  Repeat from * around.  Join with a slipstitch in first hdc.  (36 sts)

Round 5:  Ch 2, *hdc in 3 sts, 2 hdc in next st.  Repeat from * around.  Join with a slipstitch around the first hdc as if to front post.  (45 sts)

Round 6 Medium only:  Ch 2, *hdc in 14 sts, 2 hdc in next st.  Repeat from * around.  Join with a slipstitch around the first hdc as if to front post.  (48 sts)

Round 6 Large only:  Ch 2, *hdc in 4 sts, 2 hdc in next st.  Repeat from * around.  Join with a slipstitch around the first hdc as if to front post.  (54 sts)

Rounds 7-8:  Ch 2 (counts as the first fphdc), fphdc around next 2 sts, bphdc around next 3 sts.  *Fphdc around next 3 sts, bphdc around next 3 sts.  Repeat from * around.  Join with a slipstitch around the ch 2.  (48, 54 sts)

Rounds 9-10:  Ch 2 (counts as the first bphdc), bphdc around next 2 sts, fphdc around next 3 sts.  *Bphdc around next 3 sts, fphdc around next 3 sts.  Repeat from * around.  Join with a slipstitch around the ch 2.  (48, 54 sts)

Repeat rounds 7-10 once.

Repeat rounds 7 and 8 once more.

Cuff: 
Rounds 1-3:  Ch 1, sc in each st.  Join with slipstitch in first sc.  (48, 54 sts)

Fasten off, weave in ends.

MATERIALS:
2 colors of yarn (any weight) small amount
Hook in size appropriate for yarn
Tapestry needle

NOTES:
1.  Read through all instructions before beginning.
2.  I  used an I ( 5.5 mm) hook and JoAnn Sensations Rainbow Boucle and Red Heart Super Saver for the flower in the photo.


BACK PETALS:
Ch 4, join with a slip stitch to the first chain to form a ring
Round 1: Ch 1, *sc in the ring, ch 3.  Repeat from * five times.  Join with a slipstitch in the first sc.


Round 2: Slipstitch in ch 3 space, ch 1, sc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1, sc.  *Sc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1, sc in next ch 3 space.   Repeat from * four times.   Join with a slipstitch in the first sc.
Fasten off leaving a tail long enough to sew flower to item.


FLOWER CENTER:
Attach yarn with a sc in any sp between petals.  (Ch 3, sc in side of sc, ch 3, sc in same sp). * Ch 3, sc in next sp, (ch 3, sc in side of sc, ch 3, sc in same sp).  Repeat from * around.  End with ch 3, fasten off and use the tapestry needle to join in the first sc.
