Treble Cross Stitch = Tr cross st = Skip one stitch, tr in next stitch, from behind tr in skipped stitch.  Close up below.

Row 1:  With J (6.0 mm) hook ch 81 (or any multiple of 2+1).  Change to I (5.5 mm) hook for remainder of lap robe.  Sc in 2nd st from hook and each remaining chain, I think it looks nicest to crochet into the bump on the back of the chain.  Ch 2 Turn.  (80 sc)

Row 2:  Dc in each stitch.  Ch 3 turn.  (80 dc)

Row 3:  Work tr cross stitches across.  Ch 2 turn.  (40 tr cross st)

Row 4-47:  Repeat rows 2 and 3.

Row 48:  Repeat row 2.  (80 dc)

Row 49:  Sc in each stitch.  Slip stitch in the ch 2 at the end of row and pull the slip stitch tight.  (80 sc)

Fasten off.
